Keep Walking
... to get back to you.
When you don’t feel like you can take another step. That’s when you must keep walking. When you have sown and watered and tended and the harvest still won’t come. That’s when you must trust the moon and the sun and rain to do their part. When no one else in your life shows up. That’s when you must be there for yourself. When the light seems far away, too far for you to reach. That’s when you must light the candle right in front of you. When the world has broken your heart and you are sure it can never be mended. That’s when you must use your own needle and thread. You must make the first stitch. And the next. And the next. And the one after that.
When you can’t bear to look in the mirror That’s when you must turn and fix your unflinching gaze on yourself. If there are dream monsters you want to dissolve. You must look them in the eye to find out what scares you. When the path is dark and you are certain you won’t find your way home That’s when you must remember the matches in your pocket. You must do everything you think you cannot possibly do. That is the only way for you to summon angels to your cause. Believe in the next step. Then the Universe will reveal that it was you all along.
In other news, the remastered novel Waking Up at Rembrandt’s is live.
